Aspen Discovery provides a web builder at no extra cost! Best of all, you can create pages that look great with a variety of content options at your disposal with no coding knowledge whatsoever. Whether you want to create a few pages to supplement your catalog or build out your library's entire website in Aspen, we have options for you.
Please Note: This page, and these settings, are a work in progress. While the settings are available in the 24.08 release, development and testing for this functionality has not been finalized. If you decide to proceed with testing at this time, please submit a support ticket for any issues you find so they can be relayed to the appropriate developers. Thank you!
Getting Started
Enable Grapes
Grapes will not be enabled by default. To do this:
- Head to Aspen Administration > System Administration > System Variables > Web Builder Settings.
- Check the box for Enable Grapes Editor and save.
Permissions
In order to create and edit Grapes pages, you'll need to add permissions to at least one role assigned to the account.
- Add these permissions in Aspen Administration > System Administration > Permissions.
- Select the role you want to modify.
- Add either Administer All Grapes Pages or Administer Library Grapes Pages.
Q: What are Grapes pages?
A: Grapes pages are a new addition to Web Builder. Libraries can use Grapes pages to supplement their existing web builder content or switch to building content entirely in the Grapes editor.
Q: Can I convert my basic/custom pages into Grapes pages?
A: Basic and custom pages cannot be converted into Grapes pages. If you wish to convert the content, it will need to be done manually.
Q: Are basic/custom pages going away?
A: All of your existing content will remain as it is. Grapes is a new option for web builder, not a replacement!
Grapes Templates
With templates, you can create the structure of a page and add page elements, which can be used later for subsequent pages. Creating a template isn't necessary to create a Grapes page. You can simply dive into creating a Grapes page without creating or using a template first, you just won't be able to use the same format for other pages.
Create a New Template
- Web Builder > Grapes Templates > Add New.
- Save your changes. Once saved, you will see a new button: Open Editor.
- Build out your desired layout and add any content, if desired.
- Click the Save icon on the toolbar.
Use an Existing Template
To use a template for a new page:
- Web Builder > Grapes Pages > Add New.
- Select the template you wish to apply from the Templates dropdown.
- Save your page.
- Click Open Editor to build out your content.
